It also sparked the wonderful <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.co.uk/" target="_blank">Chattermonkey </a>to answer the questions <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.co.uk/2014/02/26/what-being-a-fat-woman-is-really-like/" target="_blank">herself </a>and invite others to do so. I read the blog posts and was really interested - then Monkey asked me to do it.....so I have! It's a bit waffly....<br />

If they’re thinner than me (which they usually are) it peeves me rather than
really annoys me. I understand we all have fat days. However some women say it
to fish for the <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>“oh no, you’re not fat”

tiny. If that happens around me, I’ll tell them to fuck off! </span></div>

<b><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">How has

Yes and no. As most fat kids at school did, I had a hard time. Factor in the
fact that I changed schools (and countries) every two years due to my Dad’s job
and it made it even harder. I was always the new kid and the fat new kid at
that. I managed to become an all singing, all dancing performing kind of kid –
pre-empting the jokes and banter by saying it myself. I was very popular at my
last school – the one I stayed at for longest – but never felt secure about it.
Post school I felt fine about it. At Uni I put on more weight but never felt it
stopped me. It defined me as an actor – I was the Nurse, not Juliet....I was
the funny best friend, never the lead. But that was cool. As I’ve got older I’m
more comfortable in my body but I do have moments – I have one particular
friend who is utterly stunning. Same age as me but looks 20 years younger, firm
body, despite having 2 kids and utterly beautiful. She's one of the sweetest, most lovely women I know. BUT....When I go out with her and
her friends I feel enormous as they’re all diddy and stunning. It’s my own head
that does this – they don’t even consider it (and hate the fact that I do) but for some reason with this gang of chums, I feel enormous and ugly and
tend to avoid going with them. So that insecure fat kid is still in my head
somewhere. But most of the time I shut the bitch up with chocolate. Honestly
though – I am who I am now – take me or leave me – I think I look pretty fucking
good most of the time.</span></div>

I dieted for the first time in order to get pregnant with my first child. I
lost 6 stone but still had a way to go when I accidentally got knocked up. I
had gestational diabetes with that baby and it got worse with my second
pregnancy so I did Weight watchers a few times, trying to stave off Type II
diabetes. With Weightwatchers, I always start great guns – really careful –
really competitive to lose as much as I can. I’ll usually lose about 3 stone
and then I just get bored. It’s dull. So I leave and inevitably the weight
comes back. But I’ve never gone back to the weight I was before I got pregnant.
I’m still 3.5 stone lighter than I was back then. Last year I decided to stop it.
I was fed up with it. I haven’t dieted for over a year now, despite getting
diagnosed with Type II. I keep thinking I should – but I have maintained the
weight I’m at now for a year. I’m only about 7lbs more than I was the last time
I stopped doing WW so I feel this is ok at the moment. </span></div>

No but because I smoke more than because I’m fat! But I’m fitter than I have
been – in fact probably fittest I’ve ever been. I need to exercise more and I
know my diabetes will improve. But I have a life and two kids to deal with and
I must admit my eating and health gets shoved down to the bottom of the

My mum desperately didn’t want my sister and I to be overweight like she was,
so made a big deal about healthy eating NO puddings, only fruit. Healthy
portions. Which meant that at the first opportunity, I was down the sweet shop
indulging in the forbidden. She lost six stone at the age of about 65 – before that
she’d always been yo-yoing but basically big – she was even a Weightwatchers leader but nothing
had worked. Then she got a heart condition and lost the weight to have an
operation. And it changed her life and she became obsessive. She counts points
constantly and weighs everything she puts in her mouth. She exercises three
times a week (she’s 76) and her life revolves around food. She tries not to “comment”
but she does. And I know she’d like me to lose weight. And she can say one
thing that will make me feel like a hippo without even realising she’s done it.
I call her out on it though! I know she loves me. And hates the idea that she
makes me feel bad about myself. But she has had a love hate relationship with
food all her life and it has and does affect me.</span></div>

Probably they could make more choice available but then again, I remember when I was a teenager in the 80s and had
hardly ANY options – it seems so much better now than it was then. There are so
many places I can shop and I’m older and less trend conscious than a lot of the
women who’ve answered this – and my taste in clothing is quite well catered for!</span></div>

Yes. I think it’s easier for larger men. In my career as an actor (though it’s
changing now – yay Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson), there were hardly any
parts for fat women in TV and film. I knew a couple of men my size who were
working all the time and there seemed to be more out there. All stereotypes but
still....I do think women are fat shamed much more than men. Especially women
celebrities. </span></div>

I’ve been called so many names when I was younger....had people in the street shout shit at me – the

me by a boy I had a crush on and he said “The sins of the father are vested on the

It’s utterly cruel and horrible and I wish I could forget he said it but I can’t.... </span></div>

Nowadays if people yell at me I ignore it or just shout fuck off. To be honest,
there are so many more plus sized people out there these days – I always used
to feel like the only fatty in town but nowadays we’re everywhere! At school I used to laugh it off then cry when I was alone. Now I find it quite pathetic when total strangers try and insult you. waist. I used to get amazing compliments on my hourglass figure which has now
disappeared due to two caesarean sections. I wish it would come back. Though I
have had two men chat me up and give me their phone numbers at random times in
the street in the last two years which I take as a massive compliment!</span></div>

I suppose it did affect me at school. There was a boy who liked me and I liked
him and we used to meet in secret (it was a boarding school so there weren’t
that many places we could!) and I remember he got beaten up by the boys in his house
for dating me so he broke it off – evil peer pressure. But it wasn’t serious. I
remember it made me think about a man being embarrassed to be with me. But then
my next boyfriend was the keeper. I met him at 19 and he moved in with me immediately. 23 years later we're still together. I never got the chance to really play the
field and always wonder if I missed out....(not really!)</span></div>

Rob was never what he called a chubby chaser in the past but then I was his first proper
girlfriend. He'd found skinny women attractive in the past. He fell in love with me in my entirety - body and soul and personality- and wasn’t just interested
in my body (though he did like it a lot!). Apart from that I don’t know. You’re
attracted to what you’re attracted to aren’t you? I like em tall and a bit
geeky..... <b><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></b></span></div>

<br />
So here are a couple of outfits - what I've been wearing recently....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yQRiVZT32pc/UthOSDDbvHI/AAAAAAAAB0M/4hxFUCoDwBA/s1600/IMG_8887.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yQRiVZT32pc/UthOSDDbvHI/AAAAAAAAB0M/4hxFUCoDwBA/s1600/IMG_8887.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
Dress - Asos Curve Star Sundress (think it's still on the sale page)<br />
Worn with Primark long sleeve jersey top and Primark leggings<br />
<br />
One of the things I learnt from my fatshion chums is to realise my personal style. And it's usually this - leggings and a dress - usually skater style - or a long tunic top and leggings. I used to live in slouchy jeans. I love frocks. And it took reading other blogs and finding the right stores to work out what I love and having the confidence to wear it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is a top I've had for ages - flower and floaty sleeved and I love it - Primark again!!!Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-50994749753525873732014-01-12T10:34:00.002-08:002014-01-12T10:34:27.455-08:00So...it's only been nearly a YEAR since I last posted!My NY resolution this year was to take up my Photo A Day challenge again. I managed it in 2011, failed after Feb in 2012 and didn't even attempt 2013.<br />
<br />
Part of it is uploading the photo each day to my <a href="http://sallyre.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">other blog</a> which had also been woefully neglected. On my dashboard I saw that this pathetic excuse for a blog is still getting hits - quite a lot of hits - and it surprised me. There are a TON (excuse the pun) of plus sized fashion blogs out there - excellent wonderful ones, written by women I have had the utter privelege to meet in person (and swap clothes with - lucky me).<br />
<br />Why am I still getting hits? So I thought I'd update it at least, so whoever ends up here isn't bored to death....<br />
<br />
I must admit, in the last 18 months or so my membership of the plus sized fatshion gang has lapsed. My family life gets in the way - both my kids have SEN and it's hard. No lie. Not much ME time....I missed Plus London this year which was gutting.<br />
<br />
However the lovely ladies - especially <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.co.uk/" target="_blank">Monkey </a>- have kept in touch and keep me in the loop. In fact there's a wonderful event happening next week -<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AzFy4Tk0jd0/UtLfejPxI6I/AAAAAAAABzU/hbkhOUp1Ymw/s1600/fatshion.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AzFy4Tk0jd0/UtLfejPxI6I/AAAAAAAABzU/hbkhOUp1Ymw/s1600/fatshion.jpg" height="118" width="320" /></a></div>
<a href="http://toodalookatie.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">ToodalooKatie </a>is organising it, lots of the bloggers are selling (and writing) about it - it looks amazing and I've already booked a babysitter so I can go! Yay! I'm really looking forward to seeing old friends, and getting some amazing clothing too!<br />
<br />
So if you've stumbled here by accident, and you're near London - why not join us!<br />
<br />
I will try and post some more on this blog too - it's such a phenomenal community and I love to be part of it - just wish I could have some more ME time! Maybe that should be another resolution (chance would be a fine thing...)Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-31000841396407212312013-02-12T11:22:00.003-08:002013-02-12T11:22:45.734-08:00OMG I'm still aliveYes....it's been a while....to say the least. My life got complicated (or rather my children did) so I've been kind of off the radar and not really thinking about fashion - though still reading everyones blogs!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lufIF4gDT4E/URqPO6pKQEI/AAAAAAAABso/o71jVMFoCJU/s1600/phone+036.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lufIF4gDT4E/URqPO6pKQEI/AAAAAAAABso/o71jVMFoCJU/s320/phone+036.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
So a mini catch up.....I bought the MOST amazing top from <a href="http://boombands.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Em</a>'s blog. I utterly love it. Haven't worn something that made me feel so good for a long time - it's Joe Browns and it's amazing. And it was a tenner.<br />
<br />
Even though I've been an antisocial outcast, the lovely <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.co.uk/" target="_blank">Chattermonkey </a>never forgets me and invited me to a fatshion swap at the marvellous <a href="http://cruellamcg.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Cruella</a>'s
house on Saturday. I love a good swap - if you read the entries on this
blog you'll see why - free clothes from women whose style I admire - no
lose situation! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6hIbHkYBPlM/URqPRL6eONI/AAAAAAAABs0/wrIjdZ-VZHY/s1600/phone+124.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6hIbHkYBPlM/URqPRL6eONI/AAAAAAAABs0/wrIjdZ-VZHY/s320/phone+124.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nVtnEn_Vs80/URqPQ-Paz5I/AAAAAAAABsw/SobENtHhoKg/s1600/phone+125.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nVtnEn_Vs80/URqPQ-Paz5I/AAAAAAAABsw/SobENtHhoKg/s320/phone+125.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Some amazing women there - Em, <a href="http://fattyunbound.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Kirsty</a>, <a href="http://fatfitfine.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Gina</a>, Rachel, <a href="http://52-46-54.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Wendy</a>, Michelle, Isha, Sian....I apologise if I've forgotten anyone - I was overwhelmed with clothing lust and good company. I got some AMAZING things but for some reason, while typing this, Blogger has stopped uploading my pictures - just let me do the three above then stalled. So I'll do a separate post.<br />
<br />
So thank you everyone who brought things that I pilfered. Especially Rachel who brought a stunning blue dress which is bodycon and I was quite scared of wearing it. She gave me a fab pep talk - told me to stop being silly basically - and when I posted a pic of it on Facebook I was inundated with positivity! So listen to the women who blog - they are wise. And they have fab castoffs....Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-70667872292221002982012-06-21T10:18:00.000-07:002012-06-21T10:18:07.855-07:00Quickie! Primark special....I had a bit of time to myself today - about 20 minutes - between rushing from one appointment to another. So I jumped into Primark. I meant to go and look at the jewellery but just quickly browsed the ladies clothing....found some fab leggings - just plain ones for £3 so I got 3 pairs - pink, blue and green. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TiuuhkL0SDI/T-NVHZ5IYQI/AAAAAAAABqk/XoOTrPHYpGM/s1600/phone+078.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-TiuuhkL0SDI/T-NVHZ5IYQI/AAAAAAAABqk/XoOTrPHYpGM/s320/phone+078.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Think I must have timed it well as they must have done a restock - usually the size 18s or 20's are gone by the time I got there. I spotted these beautiful purple starry pattern leggings and yes! They had them in my size so into my basket they went. (I actually had to go and get a basket at this point) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lQyBv2QvH0Q/T-NVOV9J5DI/AAAAAAAABqs/kCvbndSDRfc/s1600/phone+079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lQyBv2QvH0Q/T-NVOV9J5DI/AAAAAAAABqs/kCvbndSDRfc/s320/phone+079.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
And then I wandered over to the dresses.....I have one Primark dress - a maxi - but had never tried on any others. There were 2 lovely dresses I liked - both bird prints (think <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Claire </a>was in my head) one was in a 20 (the duck one) and one an 18 (the flamingo one). I tried them both on....<br />
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The duck one - the size 20 - was much more comfortable....so into the basket it went!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And then! As I was heading for the checkout I saw this skirt....(again Claire in my head). It's one of the mullet type skirts - longer at the back than the front - which I never really liked until I got my pink ASOS dress which does the same. It's jersey which I love....I'm not sure how to style it - didn't even try it on just chucked it in! But I think I'll wear it! I hope I will.... </div>

<br />
So what do you think of my 20 minute, originally for jewellery (of which I got none), Primarni haul?<br />
<br />Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-38632440847734377712012-06-20T11:15:00.003-07:002012-06-20T11:15:37.187-07:00OSP Challenge!And so! My second opportunity to review an item of clothing! The lovely Claire again invited me and four others to review some trousers from OSP - <a href="http://www.onestopplus.co.uk/home/index.aspx" target="_blank">One Stop Plus.</a><br />
<br />
The challenge was to dress them up and down - so a casual look and then a look for evening. And here's how I did!<br />
<br />
The trousers are by Ellos and retail at £20.30 and can be seen <a href="http://www.onestopplus.co.uk/products/trousers/700212/324340268.aspx" target="_blank">here </a>I really liked the funky paisley pattern and usually wear leggings with this kind of detail. They're 100% viscose which is comfy and easy to wash and wear. They're crop length which I don't normally choose but for summer would be good.<br />
<br />
I chose to pair them with this purple top by M&S for my casual look - this is very much how I'd wear them - I like long floaty tunic tops with leggings and although it was tempting to put them with one of my (many) black tops, I thought a splash of colour would be more interesting!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-98XSiJQfXgQ/T-IRf8MB6-I/AAAAAAAABp4/iCkTCB6pRrQ/s1600/blog1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-98XSiJQfXgQ/T-IRf8MB6-I/AAAAAAAABp4/iCkTCB6pRrQ/s320/blog1.JPG" width="256" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2DK_8NZMXEc/T-IRwB_wFVI/AAAAAAAABqA/T38txMSKfkc/s1600/blog2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2DK_8NZMXEc/T-IRwB_wFVI/AAAAAAAABqA/T38txMSKfkc/s320/blog2.JPG" width="256" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-B0Th0gmWz54/T-INXZ6E5ZI/AAAAAAAABpM/V-prMcHcifM/s1600/phone+067.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Top: Marks and Spencer (last summer)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Trousers: Ellos at OSP (gifted by OSP)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Shoes - trusty silver Birkenstocks</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WVhi4G3C_5I/T-INe9ocxQI/AAAAAAAABpU/mmPVzEYJuzs/s1600/phone+068.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WVhi4G3C_5I/T-INe9ocxQI/AAAAAAAABpU/mmPVzEYJuzs/s320/phone+068.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
And for the evening, dressed up - I chose this sequin vest that I was lucky enough to pick up at a clothes swap (it has no label so I'm afraid I'm not sure where it's from). I do love a sparkly top whenever I can and again, although it's black, it's jazzed up with the sequins! The trousers are definitely more suited for casual - so it was a bit tricky to find a way to make them work for an evening look - I hope you think I managed the challenge!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3-0UYzvd7ZA/T-ISasZc7TI/AAAAAAAABqI/K_H3XNJOxaQ/s1600/blog3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3-0UYzvd7ZA/T-ISasZc7TI/AAAAAAAABqI/K_H3XNJOxaQ/s320/blog3.JPG" width="256" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Kxuj2XZAuis/T-INmvbdWwI/AAAAAAAABpc/6Tr2Ccl71uI/s1600/phone+069.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Kxuj2XZAuis/T-INmvbdWwI/AAAAAAAABpc/6Tr2Ccl71uI/s320/phone+069.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
The main problem I had with these trousers though was the baggy top part. (Which is why I teamed them with a long top at first). You can see with the vest that they're really baggy around my upper thigh. They are described as "Slightly baggy design with wide panel at top" which they are exactly - but while they fit like leggings on the leg, at the waist and stomach area they feel too big. I am a size 20-22 and this is the size of the trousers but they felt too big on top, and yet if I'd sized down, I think they'd be too tight on the leg. They are like a weird combination of harem pants and leggings and it flummoxed me!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-52X-C5cGOdQ/T-INwZZ7tAI/AAAAAAAABpk/trjL1WXnYLY/s1600/phone+070.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-52X-C5cGOdQ/T-INwZZ7tAI/AAAAAAAABpk/trjL1WXnYLY/s320/phone+070.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4EfIY2OGqko/T-IN5ULRR5I/AAAAAAAABps/5mWnNoVCkvM/s1600/phone+071.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4EfIY2OGqko/T-IN5ULRR5I/AAAAAAAABps/5mWnNoVCkvM/s320/phone+071.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
As you can see they're REALLY generous at the top. I do love the fabric but the bagginess of the top part puts me off I'm afraid and I wouldn't have bought them myself.<br />
<br />
However I do appreciate the opportunity to review them and thank you OSP for giving me my second review! What do you think? Would you like the looser top and tighter leg combo of these trousers?<br />

This is the first time ever I've been asked to review an item and I'll admit I was a bit scared. But when the wonderful Claire told me it was for Simply Be, and not only that, for Joe Browns I was very very happy. I love Joe Browns - even before I knew they did a plus range I loved em. Then joy of joys I discover Simply Be's range and I fell in love. Unfortunately it's always been a little bit beyond my unemployed actor/responsible Mum budget.....<br />
<br />
So imagine my joy when I got a package with the most beautiful top in it. And as soon as I opened it I knew I'd love it mainly for this reason....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0pfjWXGVcRU/T9MZUvD3JPI/AAAAAAAABoc/H8d9U9ZHomU/s1600/felixstowe+005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0pfjWXGVcRU/T9MZUvD3JPI/AAAAAAAABoc/H8d9U9ZHomU/s320/felixstowe+005.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I flipping hate ironing. Never do it. My children often look like ragamuffins and I sometimes look like I slept in my clothes but I literally cannot iron to save my life. So I pulled this out and it was joy to my eyes! The fabric of this top is wonderful - it's designed to be rolled up and scrunched about after washing - perfect in my opinion for a holiday pack - you could wear this on the beach or jazz it up for evening. It's beautiful. It's got SO many jewel toned colours in it - not sure my pictures will do it justice so have a look at it <a href="http://www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/joe-browns-blues-blouse/vx514/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=5985#colour:BLUES,size:" target="_blank">here </a>on Simply Be's website and you can zoom in and really see the patterns. I do love a bit of paisley (showing my age here) as it takes me back to my student days!<br />
<br />
So - the challenge - to style it however we wanted - which is a bit scary as I'm still quite new at this. The top arrived on the Jubilee weekend so I had a brainwave - wear it with my mad Primark union jack leggings. I tried it on......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bxrFvaJL39g/T9MZbVCdjRI/AAAAAAAABos/iK4BI0H-S0U/s1600/joebloggs+tint5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> </a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bxrFvaJL39g/T9MZbVCdjRI/AAAAAAAABos/iK4BI0H-S0U/s1600/joebloggs+tint5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bxrFvaJL39g/T9MZbVCdjRI/AAAAAAAABos/iK4BI0H-S0U/s320/joebloggs+tint5.jpg" width="235" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And NO....too much pattern! I have decided my signature look is usually mad leggings with tops or tunics but even this was a bit too mad for me. There are so many colours in the top that you could wear so much with it, but it just didn't work with the mishmash of the British flag. So I wore a plain red dress with those on the Jubilee instead.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Take TWO! </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I went through all my leggings but none of them worked - and I didn't want to do my usual and pair this gem with black - so I decided to go patriotic - just not so obvious! The jeans are red as you can see and although they aren't the same red hues as are shown in the top, I think they work. Unfortunately, since it's bloomin freezing at the moment, I've had to put a cardy over the top - I do love me a waterfall cardigan!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nWb7hqOlqdg/T9MZX9HflWI/AAAAAAAABok/EH8oteRz-xw/s1600/joebloggs+tint2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nWb7hqOlqdg/T9MZX9HflWI/AAAAAAAABok/EH8oteRz-xw/s320/joebloggs+tint2.jpg" width="198" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a beautiful top. I feel fantastic in it. I love the hanky hem (I know a lot of people don't like them but I think it's very pretty) I love the colours and the print - very summery and funky - and I love the fact that you don't have to iron it! I'll be wearing it today when we visit the Cutty Sark so may add a few more piccies later. Joe Browns also do a<a href="http://www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/joe-browns-the-exquisite-cami/jv814/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=5175#colour:GREEN%20MULTICOLOUR,size:" target="_blank"> version in green and purple </a>which I'm currently saving my pennies for - love it! <br />
<br />
My only problem with it, as usual, is that it's a bit big in the bust - even with the ties done up tight. I'd probably buy a size smaller in future - I'm kind of in between a 20-22 and this top was a 22 (I was erring on the side of caution but think the sizing is pretty true so a 20 would be better)<br />
<br />
. So thank you so much Simply Be for the opportunity to review an item from a range I've loved for so long. And thank you Claire for asking me to be part of this little gang of reviewers!<br />

And to celebrate I wore the Hell Bunny dress that I got at Hyper Japan (think I blogged about it then). I've never worn it out.....but I loved it - I put some makeup on - a dress like that demands red lippy - and went with my friend Clare for lunch in Greenwich then silliness with photography around Royal Naval College...

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This dress is amazing. It made me FEEL amazing. I felt feminine and pretty and curvy. My husband thinks it's his favourite outfit and was complimenting me (a rarity). I'm so utterly glad I bought it! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In the evening Clare and I went to the Cafe of Good Hope to see the amazing<a href="http://www.eastendcabaret.com/" target="_blank"> EastEnd Cabaret</a> girls....so I put my proper 50s petticoat on under the frock</div>

Here I am with the amazing performers - Bernadette and Victor/Victoria (known as Victy). They are amazing musicians with filthy lyrics and are performing three shows on the South Bank - first one tonight - then one on the 22nd June and one on the 26th July - I will definitely be going to one of the June or July shows so anyone want to come?<br />

So for those of you who haven't seen them each day on Twitter or Instagram, here's an amalgamation<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V3H5IahQ_R4/T6_Ya2pBF_I/AAAAAAAABkU/GxoNEYEbKRU/s1600/Monkeychallenge.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V3H5IahQ_R4/T6_Ya2pBF_I/AAAAAAAABkU/GxoNEYEbKRU/s320/Monkeychallenge.jpg" width="253" /></a></div>
I really enjoyed it! I did it with a friend of mine and we had great fun finding funky walls to pose against....and it also cemented my idea that I love dresses/tunics with leggings - it's what I wear the majority of the time at the moment. That might change in Summer but only to make them maxi dresses I imagine. I have got a lot of flack on twitter for my love of Ugg boots and the black boots I'm wearing in most of the photos - I know they aren't exactly stylish but fuck it. I love em! And will continue to wear them - though I'm looking for more pretty type of shoes to wear in the summer. I also love that three of the above outfits came from bloggers - <a href="http://boombands.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Em</a>, <a href="http://fattyunbound.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Kirsty </a>and Claire - all of whom continue to inspire me to wear what I love!Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-12983325540051796502012-04-24T12:17:00.002-07:002012-04-24T12:18:56.512-07:00I feel prettyPeople are starting to notice I'm dressing differently. No longer hiding in voluminous black articles of clothing or jeans and baggy tops. Since last summer I've been slowly blooming into something - a woman who enjoys wearing dresses. Who likes prints. Who wears leggings a lot and doesn't give a flying fuck that "fat girls" aren't supposed to.<br />
<br />
Yes, I still wear my Ugg boots a lot - I like comfort....(sorry Claire)....but I am getting bolder in my choices and am shopping (and swapping) in many different places. And I like it. Today it was a grey miserable rainy day. I considered going for slobby jeans cos I had no where particular to go. But then I remembered the skirt that <a href="http://www.chattermonkey.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Claire </a>swap/gave me at the Red Bows event and it called to me. It was too wet to wear my Uggs so I decided to put on my proper leather boots.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jRKp2przhqo/T5b7_i8QtvI/AAAAAAAABfY/Y8TMGhIRd4g/s1600/phone+239.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jRKp2przhqo/T5b7_i8QtvI/AAAAAAAABfY/Y8TMGhIRd4g/s320/phone+239.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I also have this top - I bought it 2 years ago in Detroit and it didn't have a hope in hell of fitting me but I bought it because it was part of Sarah Jessica Parker's short-lived fashion line "Bitten". I bought a bag of hers and I loved it and this black top was a large....a very small large...and I hoped I would fit into it one day or I'd flog it on Ebay for a fortune. While contemplating how to wear the skirt, I decided to pair it with this belt from Yours which has a frilly edge...which reminded me of the frilly front of the Bitten Top so I dug it out of the back of my drawer and tried it on and here you are.<br />
<br />
Husband hates it. The top - he loves the skirt. But a female friend who I trust more told me she absolutely loved the top and I'm quite proud of my combination - all my own work....<br />
<br />

Pt 2As Claire has mentioned before, I do love a clothes swap! I think I hauled more than anyone last summer at the London event....<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lQG_NeZ-lz0/T31dNukrRYI/AAAAAAAABYA/HPLmKgHaHRk/s1600/phone+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lQG_NeZ-lz0/T31dNukrRYI/AAAAAAAABYA/HPLmKgHaHRk/s320/phone+003.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
This was my haul!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--mydXHzlMV0/T31dTOun3iI/AAAAAAAABYI/TXnSH9icCzg/s1600/phone+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--mydXHzlMV0/T31dTOun3iI/AAAAAAAABYI/TXnSH9icCzg/s320/phone+004.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>A gorgeous sort of reverse leopard print top from Amanda I think...</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WGQtjkdT-Sk/T31dYPOmJcI/AAAAAAAABYQ/rHU0OBQsu0k/s1600/phone+005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WGQtjkdT-Sk/T31dYPOmJcI/AAAAAAAABYQ/rHU0OBQsu0k/s320/phone+005.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>I always seem to end up grabbing anything that <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Claire </a>brings - I love her style! She used to wear this as a skirt but I'm going to be brave (if the weather improves) and wear it as a dress.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i9nz4e6kfz8/T31ddguUCHI/AAAAAAAABYY/ZaV_UJCjzwE/s1600/phone+007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i9nz4e6kfz8/T31ddguUCHI/AAAAAAAABYY/ZaV_UJCjzwE/s320/phone+007.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>A beautiful silky top from Tasha</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JFNLuTwpWsE/T31dp9foUqI/AAAAAAAABYo/iMwTkuoT-So/s1600/phone+009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JFNLuTwpWsE/T31dp9foUqI/AAAAAAAABYo/iMwTkuoT-So/s320/phone+009.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Think this was Claire's as well - love the floral dress....it's a bit big so I need to take it in at the top....but I love it....</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9_iISKgTiuA/T31duC0tbhI/AAAAAAAABYw/ZfhCmhEi16o/s1600/phone+010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9_iISKgTiuA/T31duC0tbhI/AAAAAAAABYw/ZfhCmhEi16o/s320/phone+010.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>This is a brilliant maxi from Tash - it's strapless - I just didn't take my bra off - and it's the perfect length for me....</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xwHhkCGGO4Q/T31dzUV3v8I/AAAAAAAABY4/6stjI-eusvg/s1600/phone+011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xwHhkCGGO4Q/T31dzUV3v8I/AAAAAAAABY4/6stjI-eusvg/s320/phone+011.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Another beautiful floral tea dress...</i></div>
<br />
And - I did actually spend some money - this is the dress I bought from Michelle - it's not a great pic - this is beautiful cornflower blue with little flowers embroidered throughout - not sure what period it is - think it might be 80s as it reminds me of things I used to wear. I intend to put my big tutu petticoat under this to dress it up, or wear it with leggings/tights and my blue cardie for everyday. It's such a beautiful dress and my FIRST vintage item!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Pt 1So...plus size vintage wasn't something I'd ever thought about until Plus London- as I've said before on this blog - anything outside of Evans was something new to me until recently! Michelle who runs <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Red-Bows-Boutique-Vintage-plus-size-clothing/155927927816175?sk=wall&filter=12%20" target="_blank">Red Bows</a>, had a rail at Plus London that I drooled over while waiting to go on to the catwalk - I just didn't have time to browse properly. Luckily she agreed to host an "at home" event with her clothing and was ably supported by <a href="http://www.vintagecakecompany.co.uk/index.html" target="_blank">The Vintage Cake Company.</a><br />
<br />
All of us who attended brought some food to share...and best of all some clothes to swap!<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Sian again in an 80's classic dress - I swear I had this dress back then. It looked AMAZING on her. No idea why I ended up just taking pics of Sian trying the stuff on! I think I was so busy chatting, trying on stuff myself and just having such a fab time that I only managed to take a few pics. Michelle in this shot is also wearing another of her swap finds - this time it was from Claire and it looked amazing on her - I tried it on but she looked, again SO much better in it. That's one of the wonderful things about clothes swaps - you bring along things that aren't working for you - they might be the wrong size, or just not suit you - and then you see some amazing women trying it on and they look brilliant.</i> </div>

I just want to say thank you to Michelle for welcoming us all, thank you every one who was there for being there, being supportive, sharing your clothes and your sartorial fashion tips. I love it when bloggers get together like this - I'm becoming addicted to this community!<br />
<br />
It was great to meet Tash and Sian who I hadn't met before - to catch up with Claire and Amanda, to eat Hannah's wonderful cake and just to have a fabulous Sunday in the company of wonderful women wearing beautiful clothes. I'm about to do a separate post with my haul!Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-61321231631801681112012-03-22T11:06:00.002-07:002012-03-22T11:08:03.587-07:00Uber Quick OOTD (Crap photo though!)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Dress - Torrid</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Cardigan - New Look</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Leggings - M&S</i></div>
<br />
Got the other half to snap this this morning so my hair looks dreadful and I wasn't smiling even though this outfit makes me really happy! It's a Blogger tribute outfit I think! The dress is from <a href="http://boombands.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank">Em </a>who was one of the first bloggers I ever read and whose style I adore. She has this dress - you can even see it <a href="http://boombands.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/workin-it-on-tube.html" target="_blank">here </a>when she met Gok! She sold one exactly the same on her<a href="http://boombandsblogshop.blogspot.co.uk/" target="_blank"> Boombands Blog Shop</a> and I snapped it up!<br />
<br />
I paired it with a cardigan that the lovely <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Claire </a>gave me when she was restyling me - love the polka dots. The dress - you can't see it in this photo but you can on Em's link - has a mad combo of tiny polkadots on the boobs, a big wide ribbon band and floral skirt. So I thought this might work. Be gentle with me - this has to be the first time in weeks I've worn something without checking with my style guru first....<br />
<br />
My mother said it was "awfully bright" and a bit in your face. Which she didn't mean as a compliment but I took it as such!Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-33732442484731141332012-03-21T12:45:00.000-07:002012-03-21T12:45:08.076-07:00Where HAVE I been?I know...it's been bloody ages. Don't know what's been up with me....(well I do...stressed out to fuck husband and insane children) but I've had all the creativity of a dead fruitfly. I haven't even been posting on Fbook (which has sent a lot of my friends into a panic wondering what's up). I've given up on my Photo A Day (mainly due to the upcoming death of the wonderful picnik.com as of April 19th which is what I use to edit photos) also due to a total lack of creativity and inspiration.....<br />
<br />
So today, even though I've got a cracking headache....and my two boys have been the demonic antichrists all day....I'm attempting a brief catchup.<br />
<br />
About 3 weeks ago (sorry Claire), the lovely <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Monkey Fatshionista</a> did a
re-Gok on me - another style session with some new items and some other
stuff that had been in the wash when she came last time.... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DfLJs3JsbbA/T2opSaA6gQI/AAAAAAAABRw/5xJituQcv2U/s1600/P3065283.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DfLJs3JsbbA/T2opSaA6gQI/AAAAAAAABRw/5xJituQcv2U/s320/P3065283.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I saw Kathryn <a href="http://misskathrynsmisstakes.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/goks-promise.html" target="_blank">review this Gok Dress</a> from his new collection for Sainsburys and although she didn't like it, I loved the colour. It's a relatively new thing for me, colour - I used to live in black like a dutiful fat girl. Since joining the marvellous world of Fatshion, I've been inspired to get colourful. I went to Sainsburys to buy it (checking with Twitter while walking around the shop with it in my trolley) and ended up buying it and asking Claire's opinion. She liked it! Hoorah! I would have kept it even if she didn't! She showed me two ways to dress it - with the brown New Look jacket she'd suggested I buy and ....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XPfcj_Vdusg/T2opjUs-jCI/AAAAAAAABR4/5avKUeNHRHA/s1600/P3065285.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XPfcj_Vdusg/T2opjUs-jCI/AAAAAAAABR4/5avKUeNHRHA/s320/P3065285.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
With the blue cardigan she also suggested I buy (I think it was Dotty P's but I can't remember and can't be arsed to go up two flights of stairs to check)..... So it's a keeper - though everytime I look at the above photo I a) love that you can see Claire in the mirror, and b) wonder why I am always standing with my belly stuck out!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p4OcXwfdiB4/T2opxxzg3BI/AAAAAAAABSA/IXYOYgERpUc/s1600/P3065286.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p4OcXwfdiB4/T2opxxzg3BI/AAAAAAAABSA/IXYOYgERpUc/s320/P3065286.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Then we played with some other choices - love this purple top (M&S) and wanted to see if it worked with the long sleeved T and Claire thinks it does. I wore it once since and actually changed as I didn't feel comfortable. Need to get more confident with my layering....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vHxV5SLADRQ/T2oqBvreXOI/AAAAAAAABSI/xZhIiaMziXM/s1600/P3065287.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vHxV5SLADRQ/T2oqBvreXOI/AAAAAAAABSI/xZhIiaMziXM/s320/P3065287.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
One of my main fears in dressing in clothes that are more fitted than I'm used to, is that I'll look pregnant. I can't count the times people have asked me AFTER I'd had both my children, how long till I'm due. So Claire showed me with this pic that it's in my head! I don't look pregnant - and my boobs, although diminished, are still bigger than my belly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TMfSA3yLBvo/T2oqQ2-AW6I/AAAAAAAABSQ/VSfz4TevH7w/s1600/P3065289.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TMfSA3yLBvo/T2oqQ2-AW6I/AAAAAAAABSQ/VSfz4TevH7w/s320/P3065289.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Playing with ways to button a cardy. Claire suggested this but every time I've worn it since I've worn it with the top two buttons done up instead - my preferred choice (SEE! I'm not her #walkingtalkinglivingdoll and I do have an opinion of my own - I just like hers as well)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AZKk0E_8Hpk/T2oqoRYhqYI/AAAAAAAABSY/h0qvW4-yMnM/s1600/P3065291.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AZKk0E_8Hpk/T2oqoRYhqYI/AAAAAAAABSY/h0qvW4-yMnM/s320/P3065291.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
This was an outfit Claire put together and I really like it! Roll on summer and I might wear it! I found I do have a Cami - after various chums suggested I wear it under dresses - and I thought it was too big but CleverMonkey found the straps were adjustable. I'd obviously substitute a white bra (note to self - need to bloody buy one)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nH3ioAuH5qE/T2oq3qtFEGI/AAAAAAAABSg/jb5EykO9ORE/s1600/P3065293.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nH3ioAuH5qE/T2oq3qtFEGI/AAAAAAAABSg/jb5EykO9ORE/s320/P3065293.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
This was a lovely dress that I bought on Claire's recommendation - styled in a different way and I still love it. Have worn this outfit a lot.<br />
<br />
So daily I'm thinking more about what I'm wearing and I'm actually getting so many more compliments on my clothes. And I FEEL better. Huge debt of gratitude to <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Claire</a><br />
<u><b><br /></b></u><br />
<u><b>And now for something completely different....</b></u><br />
<br />
I went away this weekend to a 40th Birthday party adults only weekend at Butlins. It was utterly insane and utterly fun. The theme was Old Skool so the 11 other women I went with were going for the full on Britney/St Trinians schoolgirl look complete with mini skirts and stockings. NOT in my lifetime. So I decided I would be the headmistress......<br />
<br />
First night we were there we all wore the obligatory (as nearly every other woman there was wearing) Tshirts with our names on and a photo of the birthday girl across our chests, and pink tutus. I drew the line at legwarmers....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HompCQxnZ-A/T2oq-0WRJGI/AAAAAAAABS4/DFg-gSRbcn4/s1600/phone+037.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HompCQxnZ-A/T2oq-0WRJGI/AAAAAAAABS4/DFg-gSRbcn4/s320/phone+037.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I also had a fab fake ponytail. I was worried that I'd feel too belly exposed but actually there are a heck of a lot of larger women out clubbing these days (it's been about 20 years since I set foot in a nightclub) and I didn't really feel fat shamed at all the whole weekend!<br />
<br />
On the Saturday night it was school time....are you ready for this? Mistress Salacious the demon headmistress at your service....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uvZ1EBLx2JM/T2oq5WL6blI/AAAAAAAABSs/O7Zp8CG-Q_Q/s1600/485737_10150757467301255_623211254_11403095_1148242110_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uvZ1EBLx2JM/T2oq5WL6blI/AAAAAAAABSs/O7Zp8CG-Q_Q/s320/485737_10150757467301255_623211254_11403095_1148242110_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3zT0nundLN0/T2orFr4YQvI/AAAAAAAABTA/s3_0rdjVwgw/s1600/phone+086.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3zT0nundLN0/T2orFr4YQvI/AAAAAAAABTA/s3_0rdjVwgw/s320/phone+086.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I know! I can't quite believe I went out in public like this (though you should have seen some of the other outfits). I was quite tipsy on vanilla vodka and AfterShok though! I did have a jolly time scaring the life out of various men who were dressed as school boys. I was asked to spank.....so after making them say please I did....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YlSE40xX0Xk/T2oq4qbfRUI/AAAAAAAABSk/civCwgeQ7bs/s1600/393052_10150757483861255_623211254_11403200_524000758_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YlSE40xX0Xk/T2oq4qbfRUI/AAAAAAAABSk/civCwgeQ7bs/s320/393052_10150757483861255_623211254_11403200_524000758_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3zT0nundLN0/T2orFr4YQvI/AAAAAAAABTA/s3_0rdjVwgw/s1600/phone+086.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2zs5780wxUE/T2ou2r0DhmI/AAAAAAAABTI/78LuPMZUOaA/s1600/405236_10150757484936255_623211254_11403205_1195974039_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2zs5780wxUE/T2ou2r0DhmI/AAAAAAAABTI/78LuPMZUOaA/s320/405236_10150757484936255_623211254_11403205_1195974039_n.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I was very much in character - no smiling, insisting they all said please mistress and thank you mistress. It was great fun. I love this corset - I have had it for a long time and it used to be too small - unfortunately it's actually a bit too big now - it was laced right up and still too loose around my (diminished) boobs....boo hoo! But I still got a heck of a lot of boob compliments (from other women) and I felt fantastic. The skirt is an underskirt from my 50's dress, the boots are from Evans and the fishnets from Torrid.<br />
<br />
So there's an eyeful of a catch up for you! I'll try and blog more OOTD to replace my Photo A Day - my life just seems endless drudgery as hubbyhoo isn't contributing anything but grumpiness from behind a laptop, I'm dealing with all kinds of work stress myself and as I said, the boys are possessed. I've been watching American Tv on Sidereel.com to destress and totally neglecting everything else (but can highly recommend Smash and GCB as wonderful escapism)<br />
<br />
Ok - words drying up so that's me out.....<br />
<br />Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-2185132598523552152012-02-25T09:25:00.003-08:002012-02-25T09:25:49.439-08:00Catching up - new stuff<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After my fab experience with Claire, I got given a list of suggested additions to the wardrobe....Here are some pics - I like some but am returning some....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ZAUTdc2vJ4/T0kW2sPbXnI/AAAAAAAABPY/5CM-DAdTqSE/s1600/feb+034.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5ZAUTdc2vJ4/T0kW2sPbXnI/AAAAAAAABPY/5CM-DAdTqSE/s320/feb+034.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Dress: Asos Curve</i></div>
<br />
I kind of love this but it's really just not ME - I wouldn't wear it - I can see why Claire suggested it but it's<br />
going back.....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qXNhHnnYUeg/T0kW7B0QcBI/AAAAAAAABPg/L0W8QjR6wrk/s1600/feb+036.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qXNhHnnYUeg/T0kW7B0QcBI/AAAAAAAABPg/L0W8QjR6wrk/s320/feb+036.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Dress; Dorothy Perkins</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This however - I love! Never would have picked it myself but I really like it - especially the collar. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4YHi3eABjg8/T0kW_4IX4kI/AAAAAAAABPo/cW-jtlgR4vg/s1600/feb+037.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4YHi3eABjg8/T0kW_4IX4kI/AAAAAAAABPo/cW-jtlgR4vg/s320/feb+037.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Jacket: New Look</i></div>
<br />
And teamed with the waterfall jacket which I also love - perfect combo....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W478VfW4Rr8/T0kXECDsSYI/AAAAAAAABPw/hUaErbhBfX4/s1600/feb+038.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W478VfW4Rr8/T0kXECDsSYI/AAAAAAAABPw/hUaErbhBfX4/s320/feb+038.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Dress: Dorothy Perkins</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I love the fabric and the fall of this dress - it's really lovely BUT - the top wrapover just doesn't work. I think it's cos my boobs are too bloody small - see below</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kiQixW0goI0/T0kXIO-yTwI/AAAAAAAABP4/gDVEVa5nm_E/s1600/feb+039.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kiQixW0goI0/T0kXIO-yTwI/AAAAAAAABP4/gDVEVa5nm_E/s320/feb+039.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
I think it should sit like this over the boob but it slips down like this....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qz0H9V3OJHw/T0kXMlPnL_I/AAAAAAAABQA/ECv5kXtz4o0/s1600/feb+040.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qz0H9V3OJHw/T0kXMlPnL_I/AAAAAAAABQA/ECv5kXtz4o0/s320/feb+040.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
...to under boob which looks just wrong! So sadly this is going back too!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_FJptH5TLzI/T0kXQm1VqyI/AAAAAAAABQI/2e4xpPOCb7g/s1600/feb+042.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_FJptH5TLzI/T0kXQm1VqyI/AAAAAAAABQI/2e4xpPOCb7g/s320/feb+042.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Dress M&S via Kirsty</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Leggings: Primark</i></div>
<br />
Saw these and couldn't resist them even though they're a bit garish! They go really well with my black dress and I love em.<br />
<br />
So speaking of my wardrobe experience with Claire....she wrote it up brilliantly <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/2012/02/18/watch-out-gok/" target="_blank">here </a> but has copped a lot of negativity on the comments. People seemed to think I was a mindless barbie doll being forced to wear someone else's taste and style. That the choices Claire made were hideous and hiding and that I was a poor little victim of bad taste. I couldn't DISAGREE more! Makes me mad that Claire was getting flack for doing something so fab for me. I asked her to help me because I like the way she dresses. As you can see from my reactions above to her suggestions, I DO NOT mindlessly accept her opinion - we don't agree on everything but I asked her advice and I appreciated it. She made me feel fab in some items of clothing that had sat in my wardrobe unused and unworn. She was working with my current clothes which aren't exactly all what she would have chosen. SO LAY OFF! I'm happy. We enjoyed it. I'm almost loathe to ask her back because I don't want her to feel it's a horrid thing to have done......I've had SO many compliments this week, wearing outfits she coordinated for me. So thank you Claire and I'm sorry you got shit for it....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yunfLliXiKA/T0kZEt-mJLI/AAAAAAAABQQ/DbmSL-Xaako/s1600/feb+087.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yunfLliXiKA/T0kZEt-mJLI/AAAAAAAABQQ/DbmSL-Xaako/s320/feb+087.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I also bought this dress today - totally on my own without anyone else's opinion coming into it and I love it. I CAN make good choices on my own but that's mainly because I've been reading so many wonderful blogs - in fact this is almost directly inspired by <a href="http://www.lilybobombslovelylumps.com/2012/02/bettie-page-clothing-review.html" target="_blank">Mhairi's Bettie Page dress</a>! It's got a fab tutu skirt - it's a Hell Bunny dress - if you google them, lots of punky burlesque type shops seem to sell them and a lot of their styles go up to a size 22.....<br />
<br />
So - got a lot of things to return but hopefully a lot of new things to come!Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-21954173822199839142012-02-18T08:34:00.001-08:002012-02-18T08:35:37.484-08:00My Wardrobe Makeover.....courtesy of SuperMonkey!Claire is an UTTER GENIUS....when she almost jokingly offered to come and do a "wardrobe cleanse" a few weeks ago, I never realised how wonderful she was! I mean, I love reading her <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">blog</a>, I love the way she dresses - but had no idea she could give Gok a run for his money!<br />
<br />
In explanation - though I've probably touched on this before on the blog....I've NO fashion sense. For a myriad of reasons. I was a size 16 at 16 and kind of kept the age-dress size ratio going until I was 30. When I was in my late teens, early 20's there was NO choice really - Evans or nothing. So I lived in trackie bottoms, large tshirts and black black black. I lost weight in my early 30's to have my kids and then have kind of yo-yoed between a 24 and a 20/22 which is kind of where I am now (According to Claire I'm 20 on top and 22 below which makes sense). I never looked at fashion magazines, never thought fashion was relevant to my big body. Then as I've written before, I found the myriad of blogs to the right in the sidebar and realised I COULD wear things that I loved, that there were a huge range of online choices and even some high street choices that I never knew were out there as I was stuck in my Evans rut.....<br />
<br />
So I'm still learning. The clothes swap was brilliant but I just grabbed lots of stuff that I didn't know how to wear and some of which didn't suit me....I read a lot of the blogs to get ideas but never really knew how to put outfits together. I had a lot of stuff in my wardrobe that I hadn't worn because I didn't know how to.<br />
<br />
Enter the wonderful Claire.....she made me get everything out and put it
in three piles - keeping, maybe and NO! I stepped out of my go-to
comfort dress (which she hated by the way and I've promised never to
wear in public again) and started trying on. Prepare for the pics! (If I haven't mentioned where I got things, it's cos I can't remember)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p-IUT_rx8BI/Tz_M2FI_1jI/AAAAAAAABMQ/LUw252IDons/s1600/phone+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p-IUT_rx8BI/Tz_M2FI_1jI/AAAAAAAABMQ/LUw252IDons/s320/phone+004.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Skirt and shirt - Marks & Spencer</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Jacket - Torrid </i></div>
<br />
I bought this polkadot skirt last summer and have never worn it even though I loved it as I had no idea HOW to....Claire added a white shirt I'd bought for a weekend away and never taken out of the packet....and a jacket that I won from <a href="http://www.pocketrocketfashion.com/" target="_blank">Lauren </a>that I'd also never worn because I didn't know how to. This jacket now figures in the majority of the pictures and outfits and will become a staple! Love this combo - kind of a funky secretary look!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oq3g31k5IO4/Tz_M8J9CX8I/AAAAAAAABMY/B8aw7Q6FfXQ/s1600/phone+005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oq3g31k5IO4/Tz_M8J9CX8I/AAAAAAAABMY/B8aw7Q6FfXQ/s320/phone+005.jpg" width="240" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Top and jacket (again): Torrid</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Jeans : Sainsburys</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This top was another from the blog win from Lauren that again, I'd never worn cos I didn't know what to wear it with. Ta daa! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iO5DzuNhmJQ/Tz_NAfl87TI/AAAAAAAABMg/ZD-n4e1_PZ4/s1600/phone+008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-iO5DzuNhmJQ/Tz_NAfl87TI/AAAAAAAABMg/ZD-n4e1_PZ4/s320/phone+008.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
This was a fashion swap vest that I loved cos it was all sequinned but I thought it was too tight...paired with a shrug (also from the swap) and my black jeans - it looks fab!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PR5gL4IlA5M/Tz_NF2bvkQI/AAAAAAAABMo/f5kwfzMiiU4/s1600/phone+010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PR5gL4IlA5M/Tz_NF2bvkQI/AAAAAAAABMo/f5kwfzMiiU4/s320/phone+010.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Dress: Fatshion swap</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Jeans: Lane Bryant</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Cardie: Sainsburys </i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I loved this dress but thought it was too big - and would never have put it with jeans but I love it - almost nautical as Claire said!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ud4uviLpB-I/Tz_NOzVXA9I/AAAAAAAABM4/5YrCTylM_Ys/s1600/phone+013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ud4uviLpB-I/Tz_NOzVXA9I/AAAAAAAABM4/5YrCTylM_Ys/s320/phone+013.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
It also works with the shrug and the blue jeans from Torrid via Lauren!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3wmUqOCXoNg/Tz_NKLixvmI/AAAAAAAABMw/xYiJ5tvthXw/s1600/phone+012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3wmUqOCXoNg/Tz_NKLixvmI/AAAAAAAABMw/xYiJ5tvthXw/s320/phone+012.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>T</i><i>op, jeans and jacket (again!) Torrid</i> </div>
<br />
This top I've had for a while but never really knew what to wear it with....The jacket makes an appearance again! Love this combo<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JWPlELAp32A/Tz_NTVy7_4I/AAAAAAAABNA/quJ81Qrcj18/s1600/phone+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JWPlELAp32A/Tz_NTVy7_4I/AAAAAAAABNA/quJ81Qrcj18/s320/phone+015.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
This is a jumpsuit I bought on impulse from Evans. First time I wore it my mother told me I looked like Andy Pandy and I've never had the guts to wear it again. Styled with the ever wonderful jacket, I love it and will definitely wear it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tta8-mAzqoI/Tz_NXgWbBQI/AAAAAAAABNI/T9SsTbgb55Q/s1600/phone+016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-tta8-mAzqoI/Tz_NXgWbBQI/AAAAAAAABNI/T9SsTbgb55Q/s320/phone+016.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Also works with the shrug! But I prefer it with the jacket.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DCNIPd_AZ2s/Tz_NdssThMI/AAAAAAAABNQ/QsPy9UegPcY/s1600/phone+017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DCNIPd_AZ2s/Tz_NdssThMI/AAAAAAAABNQ/QsPy9UegPcY/s320/phone+017.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
I can't remember where I got this skirt from but I love it and have never worn it - I'm not confident with skirts. Mainly, I've learnt today, because I keep wearing them on my hips and not my waist - pulled down too low making me belly concious. With a little styling help from my guru and a simple brown vest - I will now be wearing this a LOT this summer!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vROkPJyXThU/Tz_NihnWqWI/AAAAAAAABNY/jBFYPmAC3dQ/s1600/phone+019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vROkPJyXThU/Tz_NihnWqWI/AAAAAAAABNY/jBFYPmAC3dQ/s320/phone+019.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Thought I couldn't wear this top because my boobs had shrunk post babies. However put the brown vest from the outfit above with it, it works perfectly. And looks great with my jeans.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dVSmhCsSW3c/Tz_NnEqHY0I/AAAAAAAABNg/Ax5RMbUeAJk/s1600/phone+020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ssABJ9-UFbA/Tz_NtLY42qI/AAAAAAAABNo/lLpG31o5iCU/s1600/phone+021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ssABJ9-UFbA/Tz_NtLY42qI/AAAAAAAABNo/lLpG31o5iCU/s320/phone+021.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Not 100% sure on this but it looks better than anything I'd put together - a denim skirt from Ann Harvey with the brown vest and favourite jacket. I need to get a belt for the skirt (I borrowed Claire's!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-29lVfcFFvAg/Tz_NyU5F9eI/AAAAAAAABNw/BXhJS3vUiJw/s1600/phone+022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Elb5siL4XIw/Tz_N20SeNkI/AAAAAAAABN4/LX58GEMDvq4/s1600/phone+023.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Elb5siL4XIw/Tz_N20SeNkI/AAAAAAAABN4/LX58GEMDvq4/s320/phone+023.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
Favourite polka dot skirt in another outfit combo! This time with a purple vest top I got at the fatshion swap but never knew what to do with....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-dJofogc1k34/Tz_N81PgbUI/AAAAAAAABOA/2-8DwlAL4mw/s1600/phone+024.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W3zTaqdMkm0/Tz_OBwsrjLI/AAAAAAAABOI/XrV9yG7DZi8/s1600/phone+025.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-W3zTaqdMkm0/Tz_OBwsrjLI/AAAAAAAABOI/XrV9yG7DZi8/s320/phone+025.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
And if you add my new favourite jacket.....skims nicely over my bum and makes me feel less selfconcious.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qt1xt6HbD6U/Tz_OHf7iAlI/AAAAAAAABOQ/oIlvGNfLA6g/s1600/phone+027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Qt1xt6HbD6U/Tz_OHf7iAlI/AAAAAAAABOQ/oIlvGNfLA6g/s320/phone+027.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i> Top: Primark</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Jeans: Torrid</i></div>
This was the first top I bought from Primark but I wasn't brave enough to wear it that often and I used to team it with leggings. I love it with jeans!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_4CNwwKrrLo/Tz_ONyJBAbI/AAAAAAAABOY/IEQBb2jLeXc/s1600/phone+028.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u1ia0JmaJig/Tz_OS7pfa8I/AAAAAAAABOg/oOL7g_CLYgk/s1600/phone+029.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-u1ia0JmaJig/Tz_OS7pfa8I/AAAAAAAABOg/oOL7g_CLYgk/s320/phone+029.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Sequinned jacket: Yours</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Top: Torrid via Lauren</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Jeans: Sainsburys </i></div>
<br />
Another combo - using a sparkly jacket that I bought in the sale but never wore - and another way to wear that lovely top...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-L4dgcwnNwmE/Tz_OYYexpoI/AAAAAAAABOo/nKqQOjGEFiQ/s1600/phone+031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-v9bWjmL8ZhE/Tz_Od-CIVrI/AAAAAAAABOw/Vk6xx1btpRY/s1600/phone+032.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-v9bWjmL8ZhE/Tz_Od-CIVrI/AAAAAAAABOw/Vk6xx1btpRY/s320/phone+032.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
And another way to wear it! - with a leopard print vest (also from Torrid via Lauren)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l1Hn7KPlVNI/Tz_OjmSHhKI/AAAAAAAABO4/J68CWPq5l_s/s1600/phone+033.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l1Hn7KPlVNI/Tz_OjmSHhKI/AAAAAAAABO4/J68CWPq5l_s/s320/phone+033.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
This top I've had in my wardrobe for ages and thought it didn't look right - but it does when Claire puts it together....<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mQi-60WJe-I/Tz_OqJfqWcI/AAAAAAAABPA/eInd8ic5oPo/s1600/phone+034.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mQi-60WJe-I/Tz_OqJfqWcI/AAAAAAAABPA/eInd8ic5oPo/s320/phone+034.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Top: Marisota</i></div>
<br />
Again I wasn't sure if this top worked but with Claire's reassurance, it's back on my "wear" list"<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1A1oyehG8eA/Tz_OvF8gG7I/AAAAAAAABPI/LFxbPvg0YUw/s1600/phone+035.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1A1oyehG8eA/Tz_OvF8gG7I/AAAAAAAABPI/LFxbPvg0YUw/s320/phone+035.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i> Dress and jacket (again) : Torrid</i></div>
<br />
I bought this dress in a Torrid sale about 7 years ago just because it was reduced from $70 to $8. And I never wore it cos it was too small then. And then because I didn't know how to....now I do!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DC4ifMeTajo/Tz_O0qefv8I/AAAAAAAABPQ/aUYRJb-Tc50/s1600/phone+037.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DC4ifMeTajo/Tz_O0qefv8I/AAAAAAAABPQ/aUYRJb-Tc50/s320/phone+037.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
And finally - this is what I'm wearing now - a top my mother bought me which I thought was too short but teamed with my waterfall cardy (which needs mending) and blue jeans, it looks great.<br />
<br />
I will be selling a lot of stuff on Ebay - will post a link to it all here when I've sorted it. I'll be wearing a lot of things I haven't worn before in ways I'd never have dreamt of. I'll be looking a HELL of a lot better too!<br />
<br />
I can't thank Claire enough. Really grateful! And really inspired. So if any of you need her services - snap her up now while you can still trade her expertise for sushi! Before she starts charging by the hour! Thank you thank you thank you Claire!!!Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-35859487631947166652012-02-18T02:55:00.001-08:002012-02-18T02:55:22.885-08:00Valentines OOTD (slightly late!)It's half term - that's my excuse - kids 24/7 so I have had no moment to myself! So a slight flashback to Valentines Day this week. My lovely hubby isn't usually the best at romance. He works at the Royal Observatory who, every year, hold a special Valentine evening with the stars where you get a planetarium show, roses, wine, stargazing.....perfect no? But every year he won't even consider taking ME cos it's work.<br />
<br />
However....this year there were no other astronomers available so he had to run the Planetarium and therefore I got to go along to watch.....it was wonderful. He delivered a fantastic show, showing everyone the stars in our solar system. Then surprised me by reading our wedding sonnet (Let me not to the marriage of true minds...). And then we had a lovely GBK dinner (we ain't fancy) and I got chocolates to eat in the bath for my present. (I love candle-lit bubble baths accompanied by chocolate).<br />
<br />
So here's what I wore. I won a £500 shopping spree earlier last year courtesy of Clairol and had an hour with a personal shopper. She chose this dress but I'd never worn it - it was actually a bit too tight. But now it fits
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PcCFZnxdNnY/Tz-CuR2uY-I/AAAAAAAABL4/sWHRq7XTbIk/s1600/phone+014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PcCFZnxdNnY/Tz-CuR2uY-I/AAAAAAAABL4/sWHRq7XTbIk/s320/phone+014.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Dress: Marks & Spencer Summer 2011</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Shrug - Clothes swap</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Leggings: Primark</i></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tU2x4QCa3IM/Tz-C0JnwaUI/AAAAAAAABMA/JY2vmf0ssCE/s1600/phone+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tU2x4QCa3IM/Tz-C0JnwaUI/AAAAAAAABMA/JY2vmf0ssCE/s320/phone+015.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I actually really like it now. Kind of inspired by the dress that I bought off Kirsy (see last post) - that's an M&S one and so is this, it's a similar shape - and I didn't want to be TOO dressy as Rob had his work clothes on. And I wanted to be warm to be outside on the Prime Meridian looking in a telescope!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I do love it when other bloggers flog their clothes - cos you've seen
THEM wear it, you have an idea of how it will look on you...and often
things you covet are now available at bargain prices! I bought two
things off Kirsty from Fatty Unbound - </div>

So thank you Kirsty! I'm not actually going to write about, or share photos of that - it was not a pleasant experience and that had nothing to do with the wonderful <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Claire </a>or <a href="http://fatfitfine.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Gina </a>who had done the organising. It was solely negative because of OSP and if you want to know more about how we ALL felt about the experience read <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/2012/02/07/a-letter-to-osp/" target="_blank">this </a>. I can't put into words how grateful I am to Claire for summing up exactly how we all felt.<br />
<br />
I'm just going to say this - I met some AMAZING women that day - and the ones who modelled with me were fantastic - what should have been a confidence boosting and fun activity turned into a very stressy one; but the camaraderie and support and brilliant humour of that gang of gals helped me through it. And whatever I was wearing - I loved strutting down that pink catwalk and feeling the love in the room from all the fat and fabulous women who were cheering us on - so thank you everyone for that.<br />
<br />
I was quite exhausted after the model fiasco and also getting a bit worried about the snow<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-M7E3N2aVqYU/TzFIIPrh-mI/AAAAAAAABJM/hTS7obm-MB4/s1600/DSC_0017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-M7E3N2aVqYU/TzFIIPrh-mI/AAAAAAAABJM/hTS7obm-MB4/s320/DSC_0017.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DaBcyY7Srdk/TzFISHC7aeI/AAAAAAAABJU/sQNbOxil8ik/s1600/DSC_0018.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DaBcyY7Srdk/TzFISHC7aeI/AAAAAAAABJU/sQNbOxil8ik/s320/DSC_0018.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
So I had a quick look around the rest of the fantastic exhibitors before heading back home to south east London.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/" target="_blank">Simply Be</a> were one of the main sponsors - thank you! And had a rail of gorgeous clothes - wish I'd been modelling them! They also gave us a fantastic goody bag and were so kind and lovely - I know they helped Claire out a lot - even clearing up! Wonderful brand for plus size fashion.<br />
<a href="http://www2.blogger.com/goog_2110047397"><br /></a><br />
<a href="http://www.asos.com/Women/Curve/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=9577" target="_blank">ASOS Curve</a> also had a rail - and it took me back to my teen years - 80's neon and crazy prints - loved it! Really stylish - as usual. Brilliant. ASOS had also dressed Claire for the night - she looked stunning in a sequinned dress (see below) that, if it hadn't sold out already, would be in my shopping basket now! You can see it more of it <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/2012/02/06/five-take-party-dresses-aka-plus-london-two/" target="_blank">here</a><br />

I was dressed by <a href="http://www.pocketrocketfashion.com/" target="_blank">Lauren</a> (looking gorgeous above in her <a href="http://www.dominodollhouse.com/" target="_blank">Domino Dollhouse</a> frock)
in that I was wearing a dress I'd bought off her blog a while ago. It
was a bit small when I bought it, but it fits now and I LOVE it! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CVQuCA-ii4A/TzFIbbSQehI/AAAAAAAABJc/lU5t2QT0ZLE/s1600/DSC_0024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CVQuCA-ii4A/TzFIbbSQehI/AAAAAAAABJc/lU5t2QT0ZLE/s320/DSC_0024.JPG" width="214" /></a></div>

<i>Dress: Primark via PocketRocket</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Shrug: Primark</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Tights: Yours Clothing (wasn't sure if they'd work but I fell in love with the colour)</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Sparkly shoes: Payless Shoesource in Detroit</i></div>
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.elomilingerie.com/" target="_blank">Elomi </a>Lingerie had a HUGE queue - they were doing bra fitting and it was very popular. I didn't get a chance to have mine done and since I am so lacking in the boob department post-children, I think I'm actually a bit too small in the cup to be able to take advantage of their stunning designs. However if you are lucky enough to have a pair of Phenomenockers from DD upwards, I HIGHLY recommend you check out their range - especially the swimwear. I loved everything in their catalogue - stunning sexy and beautiful.<br />
<br />
Now for something I didn't expect - PLUS size vintage. I know from the wonderful <a href="http://fattyunbound.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Kirsty </a>that it is out there but I'd never seen any. However the wonderful <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Red-Bows-Boutique-Vintage-plus-size-clothing/155927927816175" target="_blank">Red Bows Boutique </a>had two whole rail fulls! Gorgeous vintage frocks, furs, tops, skirts. I tried to have a good rummage while waiting for the catwalk but again, didn't really have time to browse properly. Wish I had! Definitely a place to go in the future.<br />
<br />
Talking of Kirsty - here she is rocking the vintage plus look - LOVED this outfit<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3AEn5krllK8/TzFIs96BF4I/AAAAAAAABJs/x8IQ7n3sw9I/s1600/DSC_0028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3AEn5krllK8/TzFIs96BF4I/AAAAAAAABJs/x8IQ7n3sw9I/s320/DSC_0028.JPG" width="214" /></a></div>
<br />
And finally - another highlight - now I know why <a href="http://52-46-54.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Wendy</a>'s nickname and email is Wendycakes!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fTaLKGz46u0/TzFI9YWzRsI/AAAAAAAABJ8/70ak1w-O1dM/s1600/DSC_0031.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fTaLKGz46u0/TzFI9YWzRsI/AAAAAAAABJ8/70ak1w-O1dM/s320/DSC_0031.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Tt5f4NCddc4/TzFJF7ARe6I/AAAAAAAABKE/RxdQ1L-x6Ng/s1600/DSC_0032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Tt5f4NCddc4/TzFJF7ARe6I/AAAAAAAABKE/RxdQ1L-x6Ng/s320/DSC_0032.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
How amazing are they? And they tasted as good as they looked! An utter treat.<br />
<br />
So all that remains is for me to thank <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Claire </a>for organising such a phenomenal event - my first proper Bloggers event and hopefully not my last. It was truly an honour to be welcomed into this community - I remember reading all the posts from last year's event and wishing I'd been part of it. I do feel a bit older than your average Fatshion Blogger but I'm in awe of the support, the styling tips, the humour, the wisdom, just the general all round fabulousness on display last Saturday in London. I'm going to endeavour to blog more about my growing interest in fashion. I love that I have loads more people to read, that I got to meet in person some of the people that I really admire -( I wish I'd had more time to talk to Em! I didn't realise she was the writer of "<a href="http://boombands.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Oh The Places You'll Go</a>" - one of the first plus size blogs I read and one of my utter favourites. I should have realised cos I've seen her umpteen times on her blog but it was just all overwhelming in a way so apologies Em! I'd just have gushed over you if I'd realised!) I've got a whole new load of Twitter friends and I loved meeting everyone. <br />
<br />
I know Claire has been feeling guilty over the whole OSP fiasco but please - I can't say it enough - Claire you were amazing, you organised a fantastic event, you remained cool calm and collected (and looked amazing), you've continued to champion our cause post OSP fallout and I'm utterly proud to know you. I hope you feel proud of what you acheived. And thank you again to Lauren for introducing me to this world by doing such great work with Yours Clothing!<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m9EpLdQmXxg/Ty61h5hGgxI/AAAAAAAABI0/z7uNvUR1N7o/s1600/Anna+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-m9EpLdQmXxg/Ty61h5hGgxI/AAAAAAAABI0/z7uNvUR1N7o/s320/Anna+2.jpg" width="203" /></a></div>
<br />
The first part of our fabulous day was an invitation to Anna Scholz's studio to meet the designer herself and have a look at the SS12 collection. And try it on!! It was a chilly day but the lucky few met outside - it was so funny playing "spot the fatshion blogger" - I swear if any large ladies had been walking down the road we would have all been stood staring at them.....Gina had organised us wonderfully and we went into the studio and promptly ignored the wonderful hospitality (Hummingbird cupcakes, sandwiches and lovely glass bottles of coke and dcoke) and started trying clothes on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LTGxoxbIkW4/Ty6wbAjUlEI/AAAAAAAABHk/IQEyrqP3V7Y/s1600/DSC_0005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LTGxoxbIkW4/Ty6wbAjUlEI/AAAAAAAABHk/IQEyrqP3V7Y/s320/DSC_0005.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I've seen Anna's stuff online but had never worn any. And now I understand what everyone raves about. She's really the Henry Holland of plus size - the only real designer who is creating original collections specifically designed for a Plus Sized body.<br />
<br />
She has a size 18 fit model. She wears her own designs. Her staff who are of various sizes, all test the clothes to ensure they fit correctly. Anna understands that when we need more space in the bust, we don't necessarily need a wider cut - it's all about understanding the shape of our bodies and she's amazing at that. The fabrics she uses are so beautiful - silk, but stretch silk.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a_idHB-dzms/Ty6wFjpa9hI/AAAAAAAABHM/7UTGN3aK1CU/s1600/DSC_0002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a_idHB-dzms/Ty6wFjpa9hI/AAAAAAAABHM/7UTGN3aK1CU/s320/DSC_0002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vlCBZvq2f_U/Ty60X-Ls2DI/AAAAAAAABIs/EQfOuSQaUtw/s1600/annascholz_WL_SS12_5+email+writing2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vlCBZvq2f_U/Ty60X-Ls2DI/AAAAAAAABIs/EQfOuSQaUtw/s320/annascholz_WL_SS12_5+email+writing2.jpg" width="320" /></a>My favourite piece was the dress Anna herself had on when we met her - and I made a beeline for it! It's <a href="http://www.annascholz.com/online-store-1/dresses/double-silk-deep-pleat-dress.html" target="_blank">here </a>if you want to buy it. Anna had an original piece of python skin and scanned it in to digitally recreate it for this dress. There are multi tonal colours as well - touches of green and blue. It's stretchy silk elastane and it's probably the most beautiful dress I've worn! Highly flattering cut and so nicely fitted. Something I'll have to save my pennies for!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--iAi1QaPwr0/Ty6wMfTB23I/AAAAAAAABHU/stCCdF_febw/s1600/DSC_0003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--iAi1QaPwr0/Ty6wMfTB23I/AAAAAAAABHU/stCCdF_febw/s320/DSC_0003.JPG" width="214" /></a></div>
I also tried <a href="http://www.annascholz.com/online-store-1/kaftans/silk-satin-diamond-sequin-kaftan.html" target="_blank">this </a>on - it's pure silk with sequins and it felt amazing. Loved the shiny sequin detail, loved the feel of the silk and it was the perfect length.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7vKN3A8Swlc/Ty6wSSJp3rI/AAAAAAAABHc/NP-fUZkiBu0/s1600/DSC_0004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7vKN3A8Swlc/Ty6wSSJp3rI/AAAAAAAABHc/NP-fUZkiBu0/s320/DSC_0004.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
My final choice was <a href="http://www.annascholz.com/online-store-1/dresses/digital-jersey-t-shirt-maxi-dress.html" target="_blank">this</a> lovely dress<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XeBZd8jTp20/Ty6wim29omI/AAAAAAAABHs/w68j8sWZhC4/s1600/DSC_0006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XeBZd8jTp20/Ty6wim29omI/AAAAAAAABHs/w68j8sWZhC4/s320/DSC_0006.JPG" width="214" /></a></div>
I'd seen Bethany from the wonderful <a href="http://archedeyebrow.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Arched Eyebrow blog</a> try it on and it looked amazing on her. She has the kind of figure I used to have before kids - very curvy with a small waist - like a 50's pinup. And it looked stunning on her. I liked it on me, it's lovely material but a tad too clingy for my personal taste.<br />

<br />
This is Lorna from <a href="http://gingerpeardrop.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">The Ginger Peardrop</a> (and star of the Daily Mail) in my other favourite dress (which I can't seem to find on the website!) - I didn't try this on as I'd learnt from the above experience to not follow someone else who looked AMAZING in it!<br />
<br />
It was so wonderful to be able to try everything on - for there to be my size in any design I wanted to try. Anna and her staff were wonderfully welcoming and fun and easy to talk to.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pBquFpO_U2E/Ty6xJ3eJfAI/AAAAAAAABIM/5nMIXVsZ2fs/s1600/DSC_0010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pBquFpO_U2E/Ty6xJ3eJfAI/AAAAAAAABIM/5nMIXVsZ2fs/s320/DSC_0010.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We had a Q&A with Anna where all the bloggers shared experiences of the frustrations of trying to be fat and fashionable. And the lack of modern cutting edge clothes for the younger generation, the general blandness and lack of vision of in the high street stores. And we gave Anna a wishlist of things we'd like her to design from lingerie to boots!<br />
<br />

As we left we got a wonderful goodie bag with information on the Black and White label collection, a gorgeous set of skincare from Dermalogica and some discount vouchers - which will definitely come in handy. (And some Haribo!!) I'd love to be able to buy the whole collection but it's way out of my budget. But then most designer labels are - the fact that this is within my sizing and designed to flatter and fit me makes it aspirational and something I am going to try and save up for. Skinnier women have access to a MYRIAD of designer options. I love the purple dress. It's an investment! And the quality, having worn all the pieces above, is what you're paying for. A true pleasure to meet such a wonderful woman! Thank you for inviting us and allowing us to have such a great start to Plus London 2!<br />

So today's outfit is comfort based, not stylishly thought out at all! This is my go-to winter weekend look and occasional school-run outfit. I won't wear it to work though unless I've run out of all my clean clothes! The jumper was a gift from my mother on one of her USA trips - it's from TK Maxx in Florida (though I think it's TJ Max there) The label says "Extra Touch Collection" - anyone heard of it? Wish I knew cos it's my favourite slouchy jumper and my favourite colour!<br />
<br />
The jeans were a prize from the lovely Lauren and appropriately enough were from last year's Plus London event - Torrid had sent a capsule wardrobe and I won it on Lauren's <a href="http://www2.blogger.com/%20http://www.pocketrocketfashion.com/" target="_blank">blog</a> - these were my favourite jeans but they're almost too big for me now which is a shame! And I'm wearing those bloody boots again! But it was cold.....<br />

I've been meaning to write for a while about my weight. I'm very pro size acceptance and HAES but I also have to admit I'm using Weightwatchers to eat healthier and to lose weight. Over a year ago I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes - early stages - which I was expecting after having had gestational diabetes in both pregnancies - very severely in the last one. I remember those days of injecting insane amounts of insulin and being scared to eat anything. I didn't want to go back there. I've been overweight all my life - was a size 16 at 16 and kind of kept my dress size/age ratio going. At the age of 30 and a size 30 I decided I wanted babies. So I lost 5 stone with WW and had my son. I put on weight in pregnancy and did WW a couple of times in between babies to get healthy for the second pregnancy. I kind of did the classic yo-yo dieting thing for a few years. But when I got the diagnosis of Diabetes I knew I had to change my life, not go on a diet. And that's what I've done. I've upped my exercise and discovered a zumba addiction. I still eat unhealthy food but in moderation. And I am not a diet nazi. I will never judge anyone on their size or their choices. I fully support and utterly admire a lot of the fatshion blogging community who have taught me to wear clothes that make me feel good, not to hide in a kaftan. And I love that they are proud of their bodies and love to flaunt them. If I wasn't 40 and looking at diabetes, I might have joined them! And I still am in a way - I've learnt a lot already and am starting to develop a real interest in fashion - something I always denied myself when I was younger because a) there was hardly any fashion out there for someone my age and size, and b) I didn't really think fashion referred to me as a fat woman.<br />
<br />
So much has changed. I love the choice, the range, the acceptance that I've found online. And I'm hoping my "outing" myself as a Weightwatchers follower won't disqualify me from this community. I've already lost someone on Facebook who felt unable to associate with someone who was dieting as it was anti-FA. I disagree. I accept everyone. And hell, I'm never going to be a size zero! I've already managed to get my blood sugar back down to normal levels - HIGH normal levels, but I'm no longer classed as diabetic. And now my goal is to get fitter and I'm aiming at a size 16 - I haven't put a number on the scales as my goal. I just want to be healthy.<br />
<br />
So there - I've said it - I've wanted to talk about this for a long time ever since I read <a href="http://fatfitfine.blogspot.com/2011/10/dieting-and-me.html" target="_blank">this post</a> by Eclectica and I'm doing what's best for me like she suggested.Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-22679176319257459892012-01-20T10:46:00.000-08:002012-01-20T10:49:53.951-08:00OOTD plus looking forward to PLUSLONDON2!Hello out there....quick post to show off an outfit that was put together for me at the Big Fat Clothes Swap last year - I loved this skirt but when I put it on with the waistband on my waist I looked awful. So the lovely <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/">Monkey Fatshionista</a> suggested I move it up to the under-boob region and LO! A lovely outfit! She's a genius...<br />

<br />
And talking of the wonderful Monkey...I'm getting so damn excited for<a href="http://pluslondontwo.tumblr.com/" target="_blank"> Plus London</a> - I'm going to be on the catwalk! Eek! <a href="http://www.onestopplus.co.uk/home/index.aspx" target="_blank">One Stop Plus </a>are holding a fashion show and I am lucky enough to be one of the models. I've NEVER done anything similar before - I know I'm an actor but I'm definitely NOT a model! I'm really excited though. Hope someone will be snapping pics!Sallyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07071603538322993364noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-754773052562377823.post-79663672371885815262012-01-08T10:50:00.000-08:002012-01-08T10:59:10.852-08:00OOTD - Toby's BirthdayIt's my youngest son's 5th birthday today so I wore something new! I bought this from Yours Clothing<br />
<br />
I do love it - it's a lovely shape - it looks brighter on the website - not as PURPLE as I expected but still lovely. I love the pockets - feels kinda 50's to me!<br />
<br />
Teamed with my always handy black leggings, Uggs and a backdrop of a soft play centre full of mad kids!<br />

<br />
Talking of Plus London....
Will you be there?

I'm utterly looking forward to it! The amazing <a href="http://amonkeyfatshionista.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Claire </a>is doing a storming job organising a phenomenal programme of events - can't wait!<br />

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! I got some lovely pressies - mostly photography stuff as I've done Photo A Day every day for the last year and hope to continue next year. It's not easy to take self portraits though with a Nikon D60 but I'm going to try and nag my other half to help me do a bit more of OOTD in 2012 too. I did get one fashiony present though - look! I now own my very own Ugg boots! I've worn Primarni crap ones every other year - this year I did buy some fab black flat boots in the US but nothing compares to sinking your toes into real sheepskin....NOW I see what all the fuss is about. My mum gave them to me - she'd bought them in Florida for herself but thinks her feet were swollen that day as they were too big for her. Hoorah for me! They're slightly tight but I think they'll give a bit as I wear them. And I will be wearing them!<br />
